Council Meeting Schedule 2017

The Britton Village Council meets the first Monday of the month at 7:00 pm and the third Saturday of each month at 9:30 am in the Council room (adjacent to the library). Some holidays that fall on these days will postpone the meeting until that Tuesday.

All meetings are open to the public.

The Clerk's Office is located at the corner of M-50 and South Main Street, behind the Fire Station. This same building houses the Council Room and the Public Library.

Britton Village taxes are due and payable each year between July 1st & September 14th.  After this date, a penalty will be added and taxes must be paid at the Lenawee County Treasurer's office.  A new policy is in place for payment of Village taxes.  All payments are to be mailed to the attention of the Village Treasurer.  Allow 7 days for mailing.  POSTMARKS WILL NO LONGER BE ACCEPTED.  Please refer to your tax bill or village information packet for additional information.

The Village Treasurer will be available on September 14th from 9 am - 5 pm for you to pay your taxes in person.

The state-equalized value (SUV) of the Village of Britton is $17,286,577. 

The millage rate is 9.5186 mills (per 1,000).
All monies collected go into the Village of Britton General Fund for operational purposes.

The Planning Commission meets quarterly on the fourth Monday of the month at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Room with the exceptions noted below. Their purpose is to make recommendations on variances, set zoning with the Master Plan, and to meet state environmental specifications for the Village Council.

The meetings are open to the public.

The  Britton Branch Library is a member of the Lenawee District Library. Please check the calendar on the Main Page for the schedule of activities. The library offers free wi-fi, as well as computers, a copy machine, and a fax machine.
